Our Innovation Literacy Programme is Accredited by OCN London

Raising The Bar

We are pleased to announce that our Innovation Literacy Programme has been officially accredited by OCN London, an established awarding organisation with a strong track record in supporting high-quality learning across the UK.

About OCN London

OCN London has been operating for over 40 years, originally emerging from the Open College Network movement. Today, it is a recognised awarding body regulated by Ofqual and the QAA, working with more than 300 centres across the country. Their work focuses on providing flexible, accessible routes into learning and employment, with a strong emphasis on widening participation and supporting learners from all backgrounds.

The organisation’s reach is significant. Each year, tens of thousands of learners gain qualifications through OCN London, including many from disadvantaged or underrepresented groups. In recent years, over 70% of Access to HE learners came from Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic backgrounds, and a high proportion were adults returning to education. Their mission is clear: to ensure that education is a genuine pathway to opportunity, no matter someone’s starting point.

What Accreditation Means

For us, achieving accreditation from OCN London is more than just meeting a standard. It provides:

  • External validation – Our programme has been independently reviewed and approved, giving learners and employers confidence in its rigour.
  • Quality assurance – Accreditation brings structured oversight, ensuring that our delivery, assessment, and learner outcomes are benchmarked against national expectations.
  • Transferable recognition – Learners completing our programme gain a credential that carries weight beyond a single organisation, adding value to their CVs and professional development.

Why It Matters for Innovation Literacy

Innovation is often seen as a buzzword, but at its core it’s a practical capability. Embedding innovation literacy into workforce training helps people think differently, spot opportunities, and apply creative problem-solving to real-world challenges. By working with OCN London, we’ve ensured that these skills are recognised formally, not just informally.

This accreditation helps us bridge the gap between “innovation training” as a concept and a recognised, structured learning pathway. It validates our approach and supports our aim of making innovation skills accessible and credible in a wide range of sectors — from apprenticeships and education through to industry.

Looking Ahead

The accreditation is a step forward in our wider mission: to equip learners with the mindset and tools to adapt, create, and lead in fast-changing environments. We’ll continue to develop the programme in partnership with employers, learners, and OCN London, making sure it remains relevant and impactful.

For learners, this means gaining not only practical skills but also a set of digital credentials that can support progression. For employers, it provides assurance that training investment is backed by a trusted awarding body.
